From RHIC to LHC: A relativistic diffusion approach

چکیده
We investigate the energy dependence of stopping and hadron production in high-energy heavy-ion collisions based on a three-sources Relativistic Diffusion Model. The transport coefficients are extrapolated from Au + Au and Cu + Cu at RHIC energies ( √ sNN=19.6 200 GeV) to Pb + Pb at LHC energies √ sNN= 5.52 TeV. Rapidity distributions for net protons, and pseudorapidity spectra for produced charged particles in central collisions are compared to data at RHIC energies, and discussed for several extrapolations to LHC energies.

Soft-hadronic Observables for Relativistic Heavy-ion Collisions at Rhic and Lhc * * *
The relativistic hydrodynamics together with the single-freeze-out statistical hadronization model is used to describe the midrapidity hadron production in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions at RHIC and LHC. At the highest RHIC energy our approach gives a quite satisfactory global description of soft hadronic observables including the HBT radii. With the increased initial energy, from RHIC...

The short parton production phase in high-energy heavy-ion collisions is treated analytically as a nonlinear diffusion process. The initial buildup of the rapidity density distributions of produced charged hadrons within τp ' 0.25 fm/c occurs in three sources during the colored partonic phase. In a two-step approach, the subsequent diffusion in pseudorapidity space during the interaction time o...
متن کاملHeavy quark transport in heavy ion collisions at RHIC and LHC within the UrQMD transport model
Abstract We have implemented a Langevin approach for the transport of heavy quarks in the UrQMD hybrid model. The UrQMD hybrid approach provides a realistic description of the background medium for the evolution of relativistic heavy ion collisions. We have used two different sets of drag and diffusion coefficients, one based on a T -Matrix approach and one based on a resonance model for the el...
متن کاملBaryon stopping as a new probe of geometric scaling.
We suggest using net-baryon rapidity distributions in central relativistic heavy-ion collisions at energies reached at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron, BNL Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC), and CERN LHC in order to probe saturation physics. Within the color glass condensate framework based on small-coupling QCD, net-baryon rapidity distributions are shown to exhibit geometric scaling. I...
متن کاملOpportunities for Heavy Ion Physics at the Large Hadron Collider LHC
This talk discusses extrapolations to the LHC of several, apparently universal trends, seen in the data on relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions up to RHIC energies. In the soft physics sector, such extrapolations to the LHC are typically at odds with LHC predictions of the dynamical models, advocated to underlie multiparticle production up to RHIC energies. I argue that due to this, LHC is l...
